Russian War Claims Lives of Ukrainian Medical Workers

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine announced the identity of six medical workers who were killed in the July 8, 2024, in a rocket attack on Kyiv. Among the victims are a doctor from Okhmatdyt and five employees of the Adonis Medical Center

According to the Ministry of Health, the attack by Russia on Kyiv medical facilities claimed the lives of the following six medical workers: 

Svetlana Lukyanchyk, a nephrologist at Okhmatdyt, who at the time of the air strike, was evacuating children receiving hemodialysis to a bomb shelter. She saved the lives of many young patients but lost hers. 

Victoria Bondarenko was a senior cashier who is survived by her two children. Her son and husband are active in the combat zone. 

Svitlana Poplavska was an obstetrician-gynecologist and mother of three. 

Tatiana Sharova was a senior nurse. In 2014, fled the war from Donetsk at the beginning of the war. Her son is in captivity. 

Viktor Bragutsa was an ultrasound diagnostics doctor. She left two daughters who are also without their father. 

Oksana Korzh was a and mother of two. Her younger son graduated from high school this year, and her older daughter recently gave birth to twins.

Ohio Chapter of UMANA Is Fully Engaged

The Ohio Chapter has been fully engaged in the mission of helping bring medical aid to war-torn Ukraine. In an effort to optimize our resources and strengthen our efforts, UMANA Ohio Chapter has proudly partnered with various Ukrainian organizations and individuals. UMANA Ohio has had a wonderful relationship with nonprofit organizations and in particular, MedWish International, who since 2014 has assisted us in bringing much needed aid to Ukraine with an endless supply of medical goods.

The Ohio Chapter is a member organization of the United Ukrainian Organizations of Ohio and partners with it and other groups to achieve common goals.

Go to Member Highlights for most up-to-date review of what our members are doing. Members and associates have traveled and continue to travel to Ukraine on medical missions to provide supplies and medical services to the injured and suffering.
